The annual Nugget Night Out event was held on Friday, May 3 in the high school gym and commons. 4th, 5th, and 6th graders reveled in the freedom to hang out with their friends “after hours” at the school.  They had wide array of activities from which to choose. There was music and dancing, the Nickel Roll and Bingo games, and the classic gym games of dodge ball and basketball.

Games Galore  brought in two inflatables for the night. The obstacle course is always a hit, but this year a new inflatable called “Wrecking Ball II” proved to be the kid favorite of the night. The “Wrecking Ball” challenged the kids to balance on a wobbly pedastal while they pushed a giant ball towards their opponents. The goal, of course, being to knock their opponents off their pedastals. Fun to play and fun to watch!

Prizes were handed out during the evening to students displaying their Nugget spirit by wearing their school colors. A few students went above and beyond to display their spirit which contributed to a festive atmosphere!

Of course, all this running, jumping, dancing, and playing is bound to make a kid hungry. Good thing we had concessions! Students could get Jimmy’s pizza, nachos, malts, giant pickles, Gatoraid, bottled water, and candy. Kids did not leave hungry.

At the end of the evening, cash prizes were given away. Each grade level had $5, $10, $15, and $20 winners and a grand prize of $40 was awarded to Gunnar Carley! At the end of the prizes, the night of fun was over and the kids were told to go home and shower!

Request your own songs  and come ready to dance with a live DJ. Games will include 2 obstacle course Games Galore inflatables, Gym games, Nickel Roll, and Bingo with prizes. Come hungry for Jimmy’s pizza, nachos, malts, giant pickles and candy. You are guaranteed to have a good time at Nugget Night Out. Tell all your friends!

The Annual PTO Carnival took place in November 2012. Lots of prizes were handed out, and there were some pretty goofy costumes. There were many volunteers that worked at the game booths, tickets, concessions, and valet parking. (just kidding) The auction went well, and we’re happy to report that we raised sufficient funds to continue with a couple of the programs that PTO supports, including the sessions on bullying. We’re lucky to have such an involved community. Thank you.

​The PTO will also be taking orders for the 2013 Hawley Community Birthday Calendars. You will be able to have your family members’ birthdays and anniversaries printed on the calendar. Calendars are $5.

​Kindergarteners, look for a special gift on your desk from the PTO to welcome you to Hawley Elementary School!

A lot of fun was had at this years Nugget Night Out! The 4th, 5th, and 6th graders had a great time hanging out with their friends. The obstacle course, dodge ball,  and basketball games kept the kids moving. Quite a few red faced sweatin’ kids were seen making their way to the concessions for a Gatorade and a breather. The lines were long for the photo booth once again this year as boys and girls waited their turn to dress up and take some silly pictures with their friends. Bingo and the Nickel Roll games were also a big draw for many kids hoping to win some prizes. The music provided by Jay Boyer inspired many unique and entertaining dance moves! All in all, it was a fun and successful evening! A special thanks goes out to  the Close-Up students, other high school students and parents who helped with games and concessions. Thank-You!

The Hawley PTO School Carnival was held on Friday, November 18.
Despite the blustery weather, many families and community members came
out for a fun evening of games, food, and prizes. Kids enjoyed the
many games and prizes. Games Galore Inflatables, Crazy Hair, and
balloon magician Jerry Salveson were once again a big hit. Along with
many familiar games, kids also got to play new games with Spin the
Wheel and the Hole-in-One golfing games. Thanks to the teachers hard
work and the generous donations from students’ families, adults were
able to bid on another fantastic assortment of Silent Auction baskets.
Kids and adults alike enjoyed the food and bidding on over 100 Country
Store items! All in all the carnival was a great success. To the
Hawley Community, especially the businesses and families who gave
donations, you are a big part of what makes our carnival and our
school so successful. Thank-You!
